Y11 Leavers' Service

On Thursday, Year 11 students reached a milestone in their educational careers as their period of compulsory education came to an end, prior to their GCSE examinations next week.A number of the students had put together a Yearbook, financed by the Former Pupils' Association, which featured a page on each individual member of the year group. This will, no doubt, become a cherished reminder of their time at Fulneck, although of course we expect to see many of them in the Sixth Form next term. After the Leavers' Service in church, which was also attended by a number of parents, the day was rounded off by a buffet lunch in the East Hall.

Grease

The postponed production of "Grease" took place to full houses on the nights of Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th of March.Despite the various changes that took place due to one of the lead performers breaking his foot, the cast and crew coped admirably with the situation and delivered a lively, tuneful and ambitious show.Gurbinder Takhar stepped calmly into the role of Danny, while Charlotte Lazenby (also responsible for the amazing choreography) took on the role of Doody at the last minute.Mention should also be made of Charlotte Nash who played Patty for one night when Olivia Hellas was unable to.The production could not have taken place without the amazing help of Mrs Doyle and Mrs Brien backstage who between them conjured up some amazing costumes and effects, besides being calming presences backstage and at all the rehearsals.
We also heard the final Fulneck performances of some of our musicians, notably our head boy, Elvis, and Quentin Chiu. The musical accompaniment lead by Mr Rhoades admirably supported the cast in one of Fulneck's most ambitious productions of recent years.

KS4 Pupil Council Meeting

On Thursday lunchtime, we had our termly Pupil Council meeting with KS4 representatives from each of the Year 10 and 11 forms. As we hoped, having just KS4 pupils at this meeting, meant that there was more open discussion about the items on the agenda.Pupils gave their views on extra-curricular activity, requesting more non-sporting options. It was felt that extra-curricular activities should not be compulsory for pupils but they should be strongly encouraged to attend one or two each week.

Diamond Jubilee

Our school was one of the recipients of a Jubilee tree pack sent by the Woodland Trust to public organisations, to mark Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. In this pack, there is one Royal Oak coming from the Queen's Royal Estate. This tree is to be planted in the place of a massive conifer which was blown down last month in the very strong winds. It was planned that the eco-group would carry out the tree planting this week, but due to the recent hard frosts the ground is too hard to dig. They hope to carry out the work after half term.
