Fulneck’s Sixth Form Enterprise Team enjoyed another taste of success, live on BBC television’s Children In Need show on Friday evening.
The ten-strong team beat off fierce competition from three other local Sixth Forms – Crawshaw, Priesthorpe and Pudsey Grangefield – in a business competition to ‘grow’ a £50 stake, donated by Steve Lightfoot of Pudsey Computers. Their challenge was to sell stock on Pudsey market throughout the course of Friday evening in order to raise as much money as possible for Children In Need.
Our team created Christmas Starter Kits, containing all the essentials to start Christmas shoppers off for the festive season; the packs included items such as cards, wrapping paper and sellotape. Additionally, Fulneck’s enterprising students offered some great deals on other festive items such as Santa hats and Christmas muffins, which delighted local shoppers too!
The team raised a grand total of £868 on the night, almost £400 more than their closest competitors! Ruby Takhar, chair of the Enterprise Committee commented, “although it is fantastic to win the competition, what matters most is that all the teams have raised funds for such a worthy cause.”
Ruby and her team mates were presented with the Enterprise Trophy by Matthew Lewis, who plays Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter films. They also enjoyed meeting Stuart Andrew, Pudsey’s local MP, who led the campaign to ‘bring Pudsey Bear home to Pudsey’!

Head of Sixth Form, Sue Meadows comments, “we are all extremely proud of the Sixth Form Enterprise Team. They have worked tirelessly in the build-up to this event, showing considerable initiative and dedication to raising money to help children less fortunate than themselves.”
