U13s v Ashville College
Fulneck and Ashville played in a really competitive match in sunny conditions at Fulneck. The game was played in an excellent spirit and both teams deserved a lot of credit.
Fulneck started off well with Kelvin Odunuyi breaking free and scoring under the posts. Ashville hit back quickly with an unconverted try of their own. Further tries were added by Harrison Lynn and Charlie Ellis with Harrison Lynn scoring a well taken team try after excellent work from two Year 6 pupils George Kelly and Matthew Blackshaw.
Fulneck continued to pile on the pressure in the second half with Jorge Bentley and Charlie Ellis scoring further tries. Jack Bellfield surged through and made a 30 metre break and excellent work again from Matthew Blackshaw enabled Charlie Ellis to score in the corner.
Thomas Townend came on and nearly score for Fulneck and the Ibbotson twins constantly posed a threat in the final few minutes.
Ashville had the final laugh after excellent work by their forwards led to the final try of the game.
Special credit must be given to George Kelly and Matthew Blackshaw who came up from year 6 to play and produced two outstanding performances.

U15’s v QEGS
An injury depleted team put out a real gutsy performance against a tough physical QEGS team and were close to causing an upset in a tense battle.
Fulneck started the stronger with a Jake Clifford try. Conor Macphee broke clear and found space before offloading to Jed Waterson. Fulneck won the resulting breakdown and Sean burns found Jake Clifford who made a spectacular dive into the corner.
After quickly conceding two tries, Fulneck got back into the game after an excellent display of forward phase rugby. Five consecutive phases of play saw Matthew McMahon dive over to put Fulneck within two points of victory.
A period of indiscipline from both teams followed, but QEGS came out the better and were quickly two tries ahead. Conor Macphee rescued Fulneck once again with a stunning solo effort, breaking from his own 22. Jake Clifford converted but Fulneck couldn’t find that illusive try. This was a fantastic battle where Fulneck could have easily clinched it at the end.
FINAL SCORE QEGS 27 – FULNECK 19
Tries – Matthew McMahon Jake Clifford Conor Macphee
Conversions – Jake Clifford
Man of the Match – Sean Burns
