10 a-side Tournament

U13s

Starting off against Hipperholme, the U13s scored the opening try with an excellent solo effort from Edmund Okapla. Excellent defensive work from Jack Bellfield prevented the opposition scoring on a number of occasions. Hipperholme finally broke through after a period of sustained pressure and continued their fine form with a couple of extra tries to finally seal the game in the dying minutes.

Against Read, Fulneck played extremely well considering it was their second game on the bounce. Edmund Okpala scored the first and this was quickly followed up by a quick brace from the improving Kelvin Odunuyui

As the Fulneck legs were tiring Read got back into the game and a quick hat-trick by Yorkshire player Will Deacon saw Read home with only a couple of minutes to spare.

This was a tough end to an extremely successful year for the U13s who have maintained a strong home record and recorded some excellent victories.

U15s

Missing several key players, the U15s travelled to the tournament full of confidence after a run of 3 victories in the last month. Unfortunately playing against a much older Hipperholme side, Fulneck were always going to struggle and quickly found themselves three tries down.  Fulneck managed to hit back through some excellent work by Edward Kelly and George Bradley. Tom Farnell was working hard alongside Matthew Leung at the breakdown but it was always going to be an uphill battle.

Matthew Turner made the tackle of the season stopping the Hipperholme prop forward from cringing under the posts. Edward Kelly kept Fulneck in the game but they fell a try short in the end

Playing in the decider against a much bigger and older Read side, the U15s were quickly down by 3 tries after a quiet opening. However, excellent work by Matthew Leung left Eddie Kelly free who broke down the wing to score under the posts and get Fulneck back into the game. George Bradley then scored an excellent solo try down the right wing and Eddie Kelly hit back once again to get the scores level at half time.

The hard work getting back into the game began to take its toll and Fulneck were quickly down once again after some excellent work by the Read centres. Despite trying everything possible, Fulneck were always just a little short in the second half especially after Tom Farnell was just held up short of the line in the dying moments.

The U15s have got better and better as each week has gone on and have had a fantastic end to the season. Credit should be given to all of the players who have turned up week in week out and produced some excellent results.
