A day at the Palace

Earlier this week Miss Wilkinson and Mrs Newman were invited to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to mark the 60th anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.

In the biggest ever gathering of it kind, more than 1,000 young people were presented with their Gold Awards by around 60 celebrities including Anna Friel, Ben Cohen, Ronan Keating and Anton du Beke. The Duke of Edinburgh was there in person, along with Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex.

Among the recipients of the Gold Award was last year's Head Girl, Kara Farrar, who was presented with her award by the 'Yorkshire Rows', four ladies who rowed 3,000 miles across the atlantic.
