Activities

Evening and Weekends

In addition to the whole-school programme of extra‐curricular activities which are available to all our pupils, we organise weekend activities for all the boarders. These are optional for the older students. Activities are wide ranging and include:

  • Trips to cultural places of interest in the region such as York
  • Outings to various tourist attractions such as the seaside, theme parks and zoos
  • Activities including golf, bowling, ice skating and going to the cinema
  • Seasonal activities such as fireworks displays, BBQs and an Easter treasure hunt
  • Opportunities to visit shopping centres in locations such as Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.

We also make sure there are plenty of sporting activities at weekends.

Our boarders are able to make use of the school’s and adjacent sports facilities, including:

  • Tennis courts
  • Badminton courts
  • Basketball courts
  • Netball courts
  • Football and Rugby pitches
  • 5-a-side Football
  • Fitness - gymnasium
  • 9‐hole golf course (adjacent to school)
  • Horse riding and stables (near the school)
  • Cricket pitch
  • Table tennis
  • Swimming (near the school)
  • Martial arts
  • Street Dancing
  • Orienteering
  • Cross-country running
  • Camping trips (Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions)

Boarders are encouraged to develop their sporting abilities and to participate in many different activities. The School is happy to assist the boarders in organising any additional sporting activity they wish to undertake.

A recent additional opportunity for Sixth Form students is flying lessons at Leeds Bradford Airport where they can work towards gaining their Private Pilot Licence.  Siminarly, driving lessons can be arranged with a local CRB-checked driving school.

Fulneck also strongly encourages students to cultivate their artistic talents by making available our music rooms and art rooms.  An excellent grand piano is available as well as several other instruments; boarders can join the School Choir and School Orchestra, as well as the Rock Club. The excellently equipped and airy art rooms enjoy a south facing aspect guaranteeing excellent light and view over the stunning school grounds. The school theatre is available for rehearsals and performances.
