What our boarders say

This is what some of our boarders say:

Elvis - Chinese student - Upper Sixth student - boarder since 2008

I joined Fulneck School at the start of my GCSE course. I came from China and I was looking for a very good school with strong academic results and a warm family feeling. Fulneck is everything that I was hoping for. The teaching staff is exceptional and the support for students is excellent. I am very happy with my progress in the first year at A levels.  And I am even prouder of the opportunity that the School has given me to take on a very important post of responsibility: I am the Head Boy this year and I am very happy with this as it offers me opportunities beyond the academic achievements. This to me demonstrates the wonderful caring support of the school that encourages all students to aim very high and pursue whatever they wish to achieve. I know that Fulneck will give me the best possible platform to step from to gain a great degree in the UK.

Freya - forces family - Lower Sixth student - full boarder since 2008

Fulneck is my home. My dad is in the Forces and I was moving a lot with my parents; Fulneck gives me stability and I am doing better here than I would anywhere else. My confidence has grown as I am living in a stable environment and I am happy here. The atmosphere in the girls' house is lively; we play, watch movies, go shopping at the weekend, and have beautiful gardens and landscape in summer.  I really enjoy being in boarding as I am with my friends and I am able to talk to people of all ages and different cultures.

Fulneck is a very exciting school to be at and I am enjoying life in boarding.  I feel very supported and I spend time with my friends playing on the Wii Fit which is lots of fun! The best things about boarding are the extra lie-ins we get at the weekend and breakfast in the girls common room, and the lovely golf course just next door to the school: you cannot beat this for a great weekend!

Hasn - Saudi Arabia - Lower Sixth - boarder since 2011

I chose Fulneck because I wanted to study in a prestigious and traditional English school that gives me good opportunities to get into a top University.  Fulneck has excellent results at A Level and the boarding is very good: the teachers are very supportive, we work hard but we also have a lot of fun, we go on many trips, go out for pizza, cinema and bowling and even go to live sporting events! I know that I will do really well at Fulneck and I will make friends for life.

Hannah - Yr11 - full boarder since 2006

I came to Fulneck because I was really struggling with my dyslexia; all staff in the Learning Support and boarding have been fantastic and I have achieved great results in my GCSEs - I am very happy!  Boarding has been my home for a few years and I really like it here because I like big sleepovers and you get to see your friends all the time and I have made friends with people you may not get along with initially. In one word, I think my experience at Fulneck has been extraordinary!

Hannah is a former pupil at Fulneck and achieved exeptional results at GCSE; she is now studying at an agricultural college and we wish her the best of luck for her future.

Shota - Japanese student - Year 11 - boarder since 2005

When I arrived at Fulneck at the age of 9 I could only say two words in English: Hello and Thank you! I was overwhealmed by everything, a new country, education and language but everyone at the School were very helpful and supportive and I quickly started to feel comfortable and at home. My English has improved dramatically and I even have a little bit of local accent: this makes me feel very proud of being an adopted Yorkshire boy! Fulneck has given me a lot of confidence and is a wonderful environment to study, live and make great friends for life.  I will be sad when I leave Fulneck to go to University!

Catharina - German student - Y10 - full boarder since 2011

I came to Fulneck during a gap year from my education in Germany. It is an excellent school and we are very well looked after both in lessons and in boarding. Miss Medhurst is really nice and I really enjoy meeting some many new people and making friends. We go on many trips and we have fun at weekends, and this is great when you work hard on your studies all week. It is definitely a fantastic experience!
