House system
At Fulneck Junior School we value participation as highly as any success that may come about as a result of taking part. Each child is a member of either Connor or La Trobe. Regular house matches and events serve to give every child from EYFS to Year 6 the opportunity to get involved in the life of the house and school regardless of their aptitude or ability.
The house names are derived from Brother Connor who was instrumental in developing the school to what it is today and Benjamin La Trobe, a former pupil and architect, who was instrumental in designing the ‘White House’ in Washington, DC.
The events encourage teamwork whilst developing our core values of perseverance, humility, honesty and respect. In Year 6 the Heads of House enhance their leadership skills.
Some of the House Events:
- The ‘Star Race’ cup for the House which can accrue the most academic stars in a term.
- The ‘Sports Cup’ for the House which collects the most points across all of the House Sports events throughout the year.
- The ‘Choir Shield’ for the House which produces the best choral pieces (with instrumental accompaniment if they so wish).
- The ‘Carol Cup’ for the House which not only produces the best sound, but also has the most fun in singing favourite carols at our Christmas Celebration.
Go Connor! Go La Trobe!
