Parents Association
The Parents’ and Friends’ Association (PFA) at Fulneck School is an integral part of school life both academically and socially and consists of parents, staff, friends and governors working together to support our children at school. Our goal is to support the School’s philosophy of high academic achievement in a caring environment.
We support School by providing refreshments at events such as open days, school events and sports days. Our efforts make these occasions more enjoyable for the children, staff and visitors. On a larger scale, we organises many varied and enjoyable fund-raising events such as themed events, curry/quiz nights, discos, craft fairs, annual Ball as well as golf days
We also run a second hand uniform shop - open on request and after school events.
The funds we raise are used through-out school from Nursery to 6th Form to provide the children with extras, however small or large, that the school budget does not stretch to. Things such as ice-creams on theatre trips, audio and video equipment and much more. Contributions are also made to the schools chosen charities.
Some of where the funds raised in 2010/2011 went towards as follows:
2 x Interactive Whiteboards for Junior School, new netball & rugby kits for the Senior spring tours, Camera for Junior photograph competition, prize for Pudsey Bear competition, Year 9 reward merit trip to Lightwater Valley, trophies for Senior School new house system, new playground equipment, 6th Form adventure quest day, 5 microphone headsets for the Alice production.
Requests already agreed for 2012:
Interactive Whiteboards for Year 5 & Year 6, new trikes & bikes for Kindergarten, video camera for Senior School, 2 x digital cameras for the Boys & Girls Boarders.
The funds that were raised for the postponed new sports hall are now being used towards the refurbishment of the rugby pavilion and work is due to commence over the Easter holidays.
At present we are only a small group dedicated to this worthy cause and would welcome any new members. As a parent or guardian of a child at the School you automatically become a member of the Association and we welcome your participation and help in PFA events. We usually meet once a month to discuss or plan new and existing events. Meetings only last about an hour and refreshments are available. If you can not attend the meetings but can spare some time to help on the day or to set up any events that would be greatly appreciated.
Up and coming events for 2012:
Golf Day (MAY), After Sports day a fun afternoon incorporating the opening of the new sports pavilions (JUNE), Autumn Ball (OCTOBER), Halloween Party (NOV), Christmas Fair (DEC) – Exact dates to be confirmed
We would welcome any suggestions for any kind of event that YOU would like to attend - Quiz Night, Curry Night, Race Night, Cocktail Evening, Zumbathon etc etc. Any event is only as successful with participation. Remember your children benefit from these fund raising events.
