It is the aim of the Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) staff to value each child’s past experiences and then build upon them. Each child entrusted to our care is special.
Each child is unique.
We strive to maximise their enthusiasm and their thirst for knowledge, and to develop their independence. We aim to create a warm, secure environment in which each child has the freedom to develop his/her abilities and potential.
We aim to lay the firm foundations upon which all further knowledge can be based. In the Foundation Stage we have a strong commitment to you the parents as partners and aim to involve you in all aspects of your child’s care and education.
We recognise that you significantly affect your child’s achievement and we aim to develop a climate of shared responsibility, understanding and mutual respect.
We listen to and value your observations concerning your child, and involve you as far as possible in any decisions made which impact upon your child’s progress.
We seek to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which takes into account individual needs.
The emphasis is on early literacy, numeracy and the development of personal and social skills, all of which contribute to a child’s knowledge, understanding and skills in other areas of learning. These six Early Learning Goals provide a firm foundation for later achievement: Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Communication, Language & Literacy, Problem Solving & Reasoning, Knowledge & Understanding of the World, Physical Development and Creative Development.

As a staff we are totally committed to making your child’s time in the Junior School a happy and exciting one. We aim to develop his or her full potential in all areas of life at school, so that your child will go on to their secondary education with confidence and enthusiasm.
We believe education is very much a partnership between home and school, with the child at the centre, and welcome your participation as we strive together for excellence and enjoyment.
