Pupils in the first three years of the Senior School follow a broad curriculum including three separate sciences, the opportunity to study two modern languages, technology and the arts. They are placed in sets according to academic ability for most subjects.
The two years leading to GCSE inevitably involve a degree of specialism; in addition to the ‘core curriculum’ of English, Mathematics, Science and Religious Education, pupils, in consultation with staff and parents, choose their options from a wide range of subjects. We will inspire all our pupils to achieve the best possible examination results, although education at Fulneck involves much more than this.
The Senior School curriculum is made up of two Key Stages:
Key Stage 3
Years 7-9
During Key Stage 3, pupils experience a variety of subjects in preparation for their subject choices at Key Stage 4.

Key Stage 4 - GCSE
Years 10-11
Upon reaching Key Stage 4 pupils, in consultation with parents and staff will choose which four extra subjects to study at GCSE Level. English, Maths, Science, ICT, Games and PSHE are mandatory subjects which pupils must continue studying during Key Stage 4. English is a course that leads to two GCSE outcomes, one in English Language and one in English Literature. Including the subjects listed above students also have the option of a three new subjects:
- AiDA (Award in Digital Applications)
- Business Studies
- Expressive Arts

The Next Stage
